Baba Baidyanath Temple - बाबा बैद्यनाथ मंदिर

Baidyanath Jyotirlinga Temple, also known as Baidyanath Dham, is considered one of the holiest abodes of Lord Shiva. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas located in Deoghar, Jharkhand. The temple holds great significance due to its historical and spiritual importance.

Unique Lingam: The lingam (symbol of Lord Shiva) in the temple is cylindrical in shape and has a diameter of approximately 5 inches. It is positioned about 4 inches away from the center of a large basalt slab.

Jyotirlinga Significance: Devotees believe that Lord Shiva manifested himself as a Jyotirlinga (pillar of light) on the night of Aridra Nakshatra. This belief adds to the special reverence given to the Jyotirlinga.

Lotus Shape: The Baidyanath Dham temple is designed in the shape of a lotus and stands 72 feet tall. It showcases a blend of ancient and modern architectural styles.

Orientation: The temple is oriented towards the east, and it is believed that Lord Vishwakarma, the divine architect, constructed the temple.

Shrine Complex: Apart from the main temple of Baidyanath, the complex houses 22 shrines dedicated to various deities. These shrines are part of the same temple complex.

Maha Shivratri: This is a significant festival celebrated in honor of Lord Shiva. Devotees gather in large numbers at the temple to offer prayers and seek blessings on this auspicious day.

Shravan Mela: During the month of Sawan (July-August), a grand fair called Shravan Mela takes place at Baba Baidyanath Dham. Devotees from far and wide visit the temple, and it becomes a hub of religious activities and festivities.

Trikuta Parvat: Located about 10 km from Deoghar, Trikuta Parvat is a cluster of three peaks. It offers scenic views and is a popular spot for nature enthusiasts and trekkers.

Naulakha Temple: Situated around 2 km from Baba Baidyanath Temple, Naulakha Temple is known for its architecture resembling the Ramakrishna Temple in Belur. The temple houses beautiful idols of Radha and Krishna.

Satsang Ashram: A holy place where followers of Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchandra gather for worship. The ashram premises also feature a zoo and a museum.
